Flytting av historiske SJ-hus

The 'Flytting av historiske SJ-hus i Kiruna' project involves relocating five historically significant wooden buildings known as the SJ-husene. These buildings are located at Rälsgatan 11-15 and Baningenjörsvägen 5 and 7 in Kiruna. This initiative is part of the third phase in a broader long-term plan to move 39 culturally valuable buildings by 2035, supporting the extensive societal transformation associated with relocating Kiruna's city center to a new location.

Totalentreprise på 120 MNOK

The project is being executed as a total contract valued at approximately SEK 120 million, awarded to Veidekke through its division Berggren & Bergman. The execution follows a collaborative delivery model involving LKAB (the client), Berggren & Bergman, LTH Traktor, and ER Bygg. This partnership emphasizes close cooperation between client and contractors throughout the design, documentation, and physical relocation phases to ensure coordinated, high-quality, and safe outcomes.

Flytting og rehabilitering 2022-24

The physical relocation of the SJ-husene is scheduled for the autumn of 2022. Following the move, work will continue on rehabilitating, refurbishing, extending, and making other structural modifications, with expected completion by autumn 2024. This timeline is integral to the overall construction phase facilitating the move of Kiruna's city core, reflecting a complex and carefully staged urban development process.

Bevarer kirunas kulturarv

The project offers significant societal benefits by preserving Kiruna's cultural heritage while enabling the modern urban transformation necessary due to mining-related ground subsidence. Maintaining these iconic historical buildings safeguards the town's identity and architectural history, contributing to both cultural continuity and community pride throughout this period of substantial change.

Håndtering av tekniske risikoer

Potential risks in the project include the technical and logistical challenges associated with relocating historic wooden structures, which require precise planning and careful execution to avoid damage. The collaborative approach and involvement of specialized contractors aim to mitigate these risks by leveraging shared expertise and ensuring thorough documentation and quality control.

Miljøvennlig gjenbruk i prosjekt

Environmental considerations are implicit in the preservation and relocation of existing buildings rather than demolition and new construction, reducing waste and resource use. While specific environmental focus points are not detailed, the project aligns with sustainable development principles by valuing reuse and conservation within the broader urban transformation framework.
