Modulbasert hotellbygging med unikt design

The Quality Hotel Friends & Arena Event Hotel Project involved the construction of a large-scale hotel adjacent to the Friends Arena and Mall of Scandinavia in Solna, Stockholm. The project was initiated by Peab Sverige AB, with the structural components, including the raw building and façade elements, delivered by Con-Form Produksjon AS through efficient element-based construction methods. This modular approach facilitated high quality and precise assembly while accelerating the building process. The hotel’s design was led by architect Gert Wingårdh, featuring a distinctive façade inspired by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s sweat pearls, embodied by 1,000 round windows, and an interior design reflecting Nordic nature themes.

Høyhotel med konferanse og event

The hotel is a towering 94 meters high, offering extensive facilities including 400 guest rooms, 15 conference rooms, and two event halls capable of accommodating a total of 2,600 people. Its versatile event spaces enable hosting gatherings ranging from small meetings to large-scale events supporting up to 65,000 attendees when combined with the adjacent arena. Additionally, the hotel features a rooftop restaurant and champagne bar, OnTop, providing panoramic views of Stockholm. It also operates 300 sales booths and 42 kiosks within the Friends Arena, with staffing numbers reaching nearly 650 employees during large events. Ownership of the hotel lies with PASAB, a company co-owned by Petter A. Stordalen and partners Arthur and Anders Buchardt, while Nordic Choice Hotels manages operations, emphasizing a strong competence in conference and event hosting.

Lokale og regionale fordeler

The project offers significant benefits to the local community and the broader region by enhancing conference and event infrastructure, thus supporting both political, business, and leisure events in the capital area. The hotel’s strategic placement next to the Friends Arena enables seamless integration with major sporting and entertainment events, generating economic activity and job creation. The project’s construction approach-using pre-fabricated elements designed and produced off-site-minimized construction time and allowed for greater precision and delivery reliability, mitigating common schedule and quality risks associated with large projects.

Miljøvennlig bygg med urbane gevinster

From an environmental perspective, the use of element-based construction reduced on-site waste and improved resource efficiency, aligning with sustainability goals. The hotel’s design and operational planning also took into consideration its impact on the surrounding urban environment, aiming to contribute positively to the ongoing development of Arenastaden as a modern commercial and social hub. The project was completed and the hotel officially opened on August 31, 2013, marking the successful delivery of a significant construction endeavor in the Stockholm region.
