Ny bærekraftig skole åpnet

The Westerlundska Gymnasiet Sustainable School Building in Enköping is a major construction project delivering one of the region's largest upper secondary schools, with a capacity to accommodate 1,600 students. The new school building was completed in spring 2024 and is designed to provide a modern, sustainable educational environment that meets future learning requirements. This project stands as a significant municipal initiative by Enköping Municipality, aiming to foster an environmentally friendly and high-quality learning atmosphere for upcoming generations.

Tre-elementer leveres av Martinsons

Martinsons has played a central role in the construction by supplying the primary load-bearing components made from wood, including columns, beams, floor structures, roof frameworks, and staircases. Their expertise in wood manufacturing and assembly has contributed to an efficient and streamlined construction process in close collaboration with the main contractor PEAB and the architectural firm White Arkitektur. The use of wood as the dominant structural material exemplifies the environmental focus of the project, combining sustainability with aesthetic and durable design suited for public educational buildings.

Nominerte til Årets Bygge 2025

The project emphasizes sustainability and energy efficiency as key design principles. This focus on environmental responsibility, paired with innovative architecture and high construction quality, has earned Westerlundska Gymnasiet recognition within the building industry. Notably, the school building was nominated for the prestigious "Årets Bygge 2025" (Building of the Year 2025) award in the category of community properties in Sweden. Such accolades underline the project's success as a forward-looking and exemplary model for sustainable public school construction.
