Kulturhistorisk og funksjonelt design

The Stiklestad National Cultural Centre (SNK) in Verdal, Norway, is a year-round museum attracting a diverse range of visitors including school groups, tourists, and conference attendees. It also hosts the Play of St. Olav and the Olsokdagene festival. The primary goal of the redevelopment is to create a strong and adaptable design that unifies and enhances the site's key elements: Stiklestadsletta, the church, and the cultural center. The landscape plan aims to provide a functional and aesthetically pleasing framework that respects the area's historical significance, with special emphasis on Stiklestad Church, the central cultural heritage landmark.

Nye fasiliteter og bærekraft

The project's concept includes several key features: a new clear entrance, a central exhibition space, and public areas in Bakgården and Borggården. Additionally, the main program will be rearranged, and a restaurant will be oriented towards Stiklestadsletta. A sustainable approach prioritizes reuse, repurposing, and rehabilitation over new construction. At Borggården, most of the existing roof will be retained, with materials like copper roofing and slate slabs being repurposed to create new spaces on two levels, including office areas near the entrance.

Utvidelse med lokal trebruk

The new design also envisions enhancing the restaurant's potential by adding a second floor with a view over Stiklestadsletta, repurposing the existing roof and copper materials. 'The Armory,' a new structure marking the entrance, will provide weather protection and connect to the church and surrounding buildings. This open, uninsulated structure is designed to save materials and reduce operational costs, using locally sourced wood for construction. The project covers an area of 12,000 m2 and is being developed in collaboration with Agraff arkitektur, DOF, and Intec, with a dedicated team including Johann Magnus Kjartansson, Sophie Dorn, Marit Justine Haugen, and Dan Zohar.
