Omfattende hotellrehabilitering

The Thon Hotel Vasa Renovation and Modernization project involves the total rehabilitation of a historic hotel located in the heart of Stockholm, near the Central Station on Vasagatan 20. The building, dating back to the late 1800s and comprising nine floors including a basement, is being transformed from the old Hotel Terminus into a luxury boutique hotel under Thon Hotels' portfolio. The hotel will feature 144 rooms spread over seven floors, alongside a restaurant, cocktail bar, lounge, kitchen, and fitness facilities, aiming to combine the building’s historical charm with modern luxury standards.

Renovering med kompleks infrastruktur

This extensive renovation project required large investments amounting to several hundred million Norwegian kroner, with a contract value of about 250 million NOK excluding VAT. The work included stripping the interiors down to the load-bearing structures for a complete technical and functional upgrade. Key improvements involved modernizing the facade with new plaster, windows, and glass elements, and raising parts of the roof. A new person elevator and hoist shaft were carefully installed, located very close to an existing subway tunnel, which necessitated detailed planning and stepwise execution to avoid conflicts with underground infrastructure.

Tekniske systemer og bevaring

Advanced technical systems have been installed throughout the building, including district heating, district cooling, sprinkler systems, and a new electrical intake, ensuring that the hotel meets modern sustainability and safety standards. The renovation was executed with a strong focus on preserving the building’s protected architectural features and original details like the classic elevator in the stairwell. Close cooperation between Consto Norge and Consto Sverige was essential in the design and construction phases to meet the high quality demands and address the complex technical challenges posed by the site and historical status of the property.

Nye fasiliteter og tilbud

The revamp of Thon Hotel Vasa not only revitalizes a historic building but also contributes positively to Stockholm’s urban environment by creating a vibrant social and cultural hub. The hotel offers diverse premium guest facilities including rooms in seven categories-from small single rooms to juniorsuites-equipped with high-quality bedding and exclusive textiles. In addition to accommodation, the hotel features a brasserie with multiple distinct dining spaces, a 15-meter bar counter, a large 40-square meter lounge for informal meetings and events, and a gym, collectively enhancing the area’s hospitality landscape and attracting both tourists and locals.

Fullført prosjekt og driftsetablering

The project highlights Thon Hotels' commitment to quality, sustainability, and guest satisfaction. It strengthens the company’s presence in Sweden with their first wholly owned hotel and supports Stockholm’s hotel market growth by adding a high-standard establishment rich in historical value. The hotel director, appointed to oversee planning and operations, began duties in May 2025, ensuring a smooth transition into the operational phase. The hotel officially reopened in early 2026 following years of careful restoration, signaling the completion of a landmark urban renewal initiative.
